The first option is to find your server on the official server list. Simply launch Steam, select Join from the main menu, and open the Internet tab. In the bottom-left corner, enter your server’s hostname to search for it, then join once it appears. If the server is not visible, make sure to check your filter settings — for example, if you use a whitelist and the whitelist filter is not enabled, it will not show up in the list. The second option is to add your server to the Favorites list. While in the Favorites tab, add your server’s IP address and port, then enter the username and username password and click Add. From that point on, your server will always be visible in the Favorites list, allowing you to join the game with a single click.

If you want to add mods, go to our control panel and select the Workshop tab. Then enter the names of the mods you want to install and click Install — they will be installed automatically along with all required dependency mods, and the server will automatically restart so the mods can take effect.

Changing server settings is quite simple — if you want to modify basic parameters such as the server name, number of slots, password, or ping limit, you can do so in the Startup tab in our control panel. Yes, you can always upgrade your hosting plan later. If you want to upgrade from the free trial plan to a paid plan, simply log in to our website, go to My Services, and select your product. Next, choose the Upgrade to Paid Plan option, select the amount of RAM in GB and the number of backups, and proceed to payment. If you are already using a paid plan and want to increase the amount of backups or RAM, go to My Services, select your product, choose the Upgrade Options option, select the number of GB and backups, and proceed to payment.

For servers based on the stable version, 3 GB of RAM is the absolute minimum required for the server to start. For groups of up to 10 players, we recommend choosing 4–6 GB of RAM, while for groups of 10–20 players it is best to select a range of 6–8 GB. If you plan to play on the unstable version, we recommend choosing a minimum of 8–9 GB of RAM — without this amount of memory, the server will not start. During gameplay, RAM usage will decrease, but on every restart the server will still require 8–9 GB of RAM.

The best way to reset the server is to reinstall it with all files removed. Simply go to our control panel and navigate to Settings. Then select the Reinstall option and check the box that allows all files to be deleted.

If you want to start a multiplayer adventure on Build 42, begin by renting a Project Zomboid server from us. We recommend choosing a minimum of 8–9 GB of RAM, as gameplay on the unstable version requires more resources. Once you rent the server and access the control panel, stop the server, go to the Startup tab, find the Steam Beta Branch option, and enter unstable for latest version (or any other earlier version, for example 42.13.1). Next, go to Settings and select the Reinstall Server option.
