If you’re new to the world of Enshrouded, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, we will look at the most important elements of the game that all new players should know.
1. Plan development of your skill tree
In Enshrouded you will find three categories of the skill tree: green (dexterity), red (strength) and blue (intelligence). Each color is assigned several classes from which you can choose:
- Ranger (Green) is a class that rewards players with outstanding aiming ability, allowing them to hit enemies without too much precision. This tree enhances passive ranged damage, increases agility and critical hits.
- Survivor (Green) is a class that focuses on skills such as double jumps and speed increases. It will provide you with better stamina regeneration, additional food slots and increased damage dealt during air attacks. This skill tree is useful in multiplayer because killing someone with a bow increases the chances of a stamina orb spawning that can be used by others.
- Beastmaster (Green) is a class that focuses on animals, especially wolves. Reaping the benefits of this class’s skill tree requires having animals around you. The advantages of this choice are resistance to poison and no attacks from animals. Developing this tree will give you endurance passive skills.
- Assassin (Green) focuses on damage dealt by exploding arrows. This tree provides better sneak attack mechanics and improves the quality of damage dealt.
- Tank (Red) is a skill wood that specializes in damage reduction. This is one of the most important roles in the group, on which the survival of the rest of the players depends.
- Warrior (Red) focuses on passive bonuses for melee weapons and dealing additional damage. This is a great choice for players who like to use two-handed weapons.
- Barbarian (Red) focuses on suppression mechanics and dealing bonus damage. Each time he blocks someone, he can use a special attack that deals massive damage and incapacitates the enemy.
- Athlete (Red) is a good skill tree for players who love using melee weapons. Athlete’s unique ability is a jump attack that can instantly kill weak enemies.
- Wizard (Blue) is probably the strongest class in the game. You can choose one of three elemental paths: fire, ice or lightning. Each choice will increase the damage dealt by the selected element.
- Healer (Blue) is a class that specializes in healing. Using his Staff Healer, he can use powerful charges to heal allies.
- Battlemage (Blue) deals mainly passive damage, effective against wands. Combined with a shield, it can create a great close-combat setup.
- Trickster (Blue) is a skill tree that allows you to deal damage to attackers and strengthens unarmed attacks.
- Core (Gold) is the middle part of the skill tree which contains skills not assigned to any class.
2. Build Flame Altar
The Flame Altar is the central landmark of your base and the first structure you will create in Enshrouded. It is possible to build as many as eight Flame Altars that serve as fast travel points. This means that a perfectly distributed grid of points will allow you to efficiently explore the vast land of Embervale! It is possible to improve the specific center of the base in two ways. The first one, requiring the use of Shroud Core (1 Core for level 2, 5 Cores for level 3 and 10 Cores for level 4), will allow you to increase the construction area around the flame. The second option, which involves strengthening the flame, will allow you to increase your protection against the shroud and unlock the ability to build new Flame Altars.

3. Try to survive in Shroud
The Shroud, a mysterious fog covering the land of Embervale, is definitely the most important element of the game. The effect of the shroud is quite unpleasant because you can only stay in it for a certain amount of time. When the timer at the top of the screen finishes counting down, you will face a quick and brutal death. Time constraints and the depletion of the shroud’s protection may leave you disappointed as you explore for valuable resources. Fortunately, there are a few simple rules that will allow you to extend the time you spend in the deadly cloud:
- upgrade Flame Altar to extend the maximum possible time spent in the shroud
- stand near the Return Beacon
- take care of your Skills to increase the time counter
- rescue the Alchemist NPC to unlock the ability to create Shroud Survival Flasks
Beginner players will be able to enter the Blue Shroud without any problems. As you progress, you should encounter the Red Shroud, which is almost impossible to enter! If you cross its limits, you will probably die within seconds!
4. Find all NPCs
There are as many as six different NPCs in Springlands, which you can find in Ancient Vaults. Once released, you can place them in your base where they will be able to expand your recipes and crafting capabilities. The first NPC you discover will be Blacksmith, followed by Hunter and Alchemist. In cooperation with the latter two, you will discover Farmer and Carpenter. The latest update to the game “Hollow Halls” will give you the opportunity to bring a completely new NPC to your base called Collector.
5. Stock up on essential resources
Unlocking the first recipes in the game will require collecting basic materials, which are usually repeated. To make your gameplay easier, focus on collecting:
- Logs – to collect them you will need an ax and several trees
- Rocks – to collect them you will need a pickaxe and large stones around
- Plant Fiber – to collect them, just look down, because right under our feet there is an infinite number of plants ready to be collected
- Metal Scraps – in this case, obtaining the resource is a bit more difficult. You will have to go to the mine and kill some scavengers, which will drop metal scraps
- Salt – to get it, go to the salt mine
- Sparks – you can get them in Flame Sanctuaries and Flame Shrines and then use them to upgrade the Flame Altar
6. Build a Glider
The Glider is necessary to move around the land of Embervale. If you find yourself at a fast travel point, you can jump down and safely explore new corners of the Enshrouded world. The basic glider should be enough in the early game. After some time, when you bring Hunter and Carpenter to your base, you will be able to create an advanced Glider. Veterans of the Embervale world will be able to create an extraordinary glider! The recipes for this wonderful gliders are below:
Glider Recipe | 2x Animal Fur 8x Shroud Wood 2x Shroud Spore 2x String |

8. Eat some good snacks
Food is a very important element of the gameplay in Enshrouded. Food products, like potions, provide a temporary increase in statistics such as strength, endurance, intelligence and dexterity. Before each tough fight, it is worth eating selected products to improve your character’s statistics and increase the probability of winning.
