Everything you need to know about 1.21 Minecraft update

Minecraft 1.21 is the latest update which should be released in mid-2024. The official date is still a secret, but in this article we will take a closer look at all the new features that version 1.21 will bring.

New Mobs

Who is Armadillo?

Armadillo is a cute neutral mob that rolls into a ball when threatened (and there are many such situations, from the appearance of players on mounts to the appearance of zombies). The collapsed Armadillo will not eat or walk – it will unfold if it does not sense any threat in the area for 3 seconds. You will encounter Armadillo in the warm savannah biome.

Armadillo properties

Armadillo is a very fragile mob, it has only 12 health points. It has no resistance when curled into a ball and can easily die if attacked. If you want, you can breed Armadillo. To do this, you need two adults and some of their favorite food in the form of spider eyes. If you use the brush tool, you will be able to obtain Armadillo scales (needed to craft wolf armor).

Who is Breeze?

Breeze is an enemy mob surrounded by a tornado-like aura that has the ability to control wind. It moves by jumping from one place to another, but cannot float in the air. You can meet him underground in the Trial Chambers.

Breeze properties

Breeze has 30 health points and cannot be defeated from a distance. It is resistant to fired arrows because it reflects them in random directions. He is not resistant to screaming potions. Breeze attacks with a special attack called “wind charge” which takes 1 health point. Apart from attacking from a distance, the mob does not have any special melee attacks.

Fighting Breeze can become complicated due to how his attack interacts with blocks. The Breeze attack can cause lit candles to extinguish, levers to activate, and much more. The chambers in which it occurs have been specially designed so that it can trigger a number of different traps. You will not receive any loot after killing Breeze.

Who is Bogged?

Bogged is a moss-covered skeleton that attacks with a bow and poisoned arrows. Its distinctive appearance is complemented by mushrooms growing from its head. The appearance of this mob clearly indicates where we can find it. You will meet him in swamps and mangrove biomes. Bogged blends in with the surroundings, so you should explore these areas carefully.

ChanceLoot
100%Bone (0-2)
100%Arrow (0-2)
50%Arrow of Poison (1)
Bogged properties

Bogged is aggressive towards the player, but it is not difficult to defeat him. He has 16 health points and burns in daylight like any undead. He takes damage from healing potions and heals himself with harmful potions. Bogged takes damage from environmental elements such as fire, lava or snow. Even though this mob looks terrifying, you can easily defeat it.

The damage dealt by the skeleton depends on the difficulty level of the game. It can deal 3 (easy), 4 (normal) or 5 (hard) points of damage. Bogged uses poisoned arrows that inflict a poison effect on the target. To avoid it, block the arrows with your shield.

Tuff and Copper

In version 1.21 there will be completely new combinations of copper and tuff blocks. With the appearance of Trial Chambers, new elements were presented such as:

  • Chiseled Copper, Chiseled Tuff, Chiseled Tuff Bricks
  • Copper Grate, Copper Door, Copper Trapdoor, Copper Bulb
  • Tuff Slab, Tuff Stairs, Tuff Wall
  • Polished Tuff, Polished Tuff Slab, Polished Tuff Stairs, Polished Tuff Wall
  • Tuff Bricks, Tuff Brick Slab, Tuff Brick Stairs, Tuff Brick Wall

Wolf Armor

Wolf Armor is a great item that will protect your pet wolf. When you put armor on your wolf’s back, it will become much more durable and it will be easier for it to fight other mobs. The wolf will receive more health points and will take less damage.

Wolf armor has durability which it loses when it takes damage. You can repair it using Armadillo scales. An element worth mentioning is the fact that you can dye your wolf’s armor and watch a pack of dressed up wolves kill your enemies!

Crafter

Crafter is a new feature that is the ultimate form of the crafting table that allows you to automate your production. It also serves as a container in which you can store items and create new ones at a time of your choosing. Crafter allows you to create endless items without having to perform tedious activities yourself.

Trial Chambers with Trial Spawner

Trial Chambers are completely new procedurally generated structures which can be found by exploring deep caves. As you explore structures composed of new block variants, you will encounter traps, supply crates and numerous rewards.

Inside the Trial Chamber there is a Trial Spawner waiting for you, through which you will have to fight a limited number of mobs. After providing you with a perfectly balanced fight, the Trial Spawner will go on cooldown (half an hour).

Trial Key

Trial Key is another new item added in version 1.21. It is a copper key with a skull that can open the vault. If you want to find the Trial Key, you need to go exploring the deep layers of shale where you will probably encounter a Trial Chamber. The chance of obtaining this key is quite low, but there is a 50% chance of obtaining it after completing the Trial Spawner challenge.

The Trial Key opens a dark block called a vault. If you don’t know how to find the vault, take a good look at the skull on your key – it will definitely make your task easier because the vault has an identical one on its side. The treasury only gives you loot once.

The Vault

The Vault is a special block that can be opened using the Trial Key. When you use the key on it, it will spit out items in the form of armor or tools. You cannot farm this block multiple times.
