How to create token for a Don’t Starve Together server

To fully setup your own dedicated server for Dont Starve Together (DST), you will need to create a server token. This token is crucial for the server to authenticate it with the publisher systems and succesfully enable player access. Follow the guide below to generate your token and authenticate your DST server properly.

Follow these steps to create a Don’t Starve Together token:

1. Launch the game

Open the Don’t Starve Together game on your gaming platform.

2. Navigate Klei account details

Once you are in a game, you should see “Account” option in the left bottom corner. Click on it – you should be redirected to the new “Klei” window.

3. Open “GAMES” tab

Now you are in a “USER INFO” tab. Go to the “GAMES” tab.

4. Navigate Don’t Starve Together game

In the game browser find Don’t Starve Together game. Select “Game Servers” button.

5. Add new server

You should be redirected to the new window. In this place you can enter your Cluster Name, then click on “Add New Server”.

6. Get access to the server token

You should see something like in the picture below. Select “Configure Server” to get access to the server token.

8. Configure your server

Once you have copied your server token, it’s time to make your server perfectly working. Go to the server panel and navigate “Startup” tab. This place gives you possibility to configure your server.

9. Paste server token

Try to find a window named “SERVER TOKEN” in the “Startup” tab. It’s a place where you need to paste recently copied token.

10. Restart your server

After all changes you need to restart your server. Navigate “Console” tab, then select “Restart” button to restart your server.

Troubleshooting Tips

• Token Errors: If you encounter issues related to the token, double-check that it’s correctly copied and pasted without any extra spaces or characters. Check if token is paste in proper environment variable.
• Expired Token: Expired Klei token may cause a problems with game server authentication.
• Klei Account Issues: If you’re having trouble accessing your Klei account, try resetting your password or contacting Klei support for assistance.
• Manual check file: Check if cluster_token.txt file content token that you placed in environment variable. See path below:
