Configuring Sons of the Forest server adapts it to the individual needs of owner and players. A person with access to server files can change almost all parameters, such as maximum number of players, password or difficulty.
How to configure server
1. Go to the server panel.
2. Stop your server by clicking on the “Stop” button in the “Console” tab.
3. Go to the “Startup” tab.
“Startup” tab contains the most important parameters of your server. You can change the variables described below without editing the configuration file.

| Skip network Test | OFF | Turn ON skipping network test when you have problems while connecting game server |
| Save Slot | 1 | Set number that will be ID of your save (the number must be number greater or equal to 1) |
| Save Interval | 300 | Set how often you want to save your game into SaveSlot |
| Idle Day Cycle Speed | 0 | Set elapsed time rate then server is idle (no player connected) |
| Save Mode | continue | Select save mode from two existing options. ‘Continue’ mode will create new save if doesn’t exist or will load existing save. ‘New’ mode will create a new game with new ID and will overwrite previously saved game on SaveSlot |
4. If you need more advanced server configuration go to the “Files” tab.
5. Follow this path to access the main configuration file of The Forest server: /home/serverconfig/dedicatedserver.cfg
In the dedicatedserver.cfg file you will find all available variables that can be modified by server administrator.
6. After all changes you need to restart your server by clicking on “Restart” button in the “Console” tab.
