Conan Exiles offers players three predefined difficulty levels that significantly impact the gameplay. These include:
- Civilized (Easy): Designed for beginner players who do not want to face harsh penalties. This difficulty level allows you to gain experience quickly, deal more damage to enemies, and even keep your items after death. Buildings do not decay over time, The Purge will not attack your base.
- Decadent (Normal): This is the standard difficulty level, intended for players with experience in survival games. In this case, you will lose your items upon death, The Purge will periodically attack your base.
- Barbaric (Hard): The most challenging difficulty level is intended for survival masters who can handle strong enemies and periodic Purge raids on their base. Resources and experience will be harder to come by, you will lose all your items upon death.
How to change difficulty
1. Launch Conan Exiles game and join your server.

2. Give yourself administrator rights.

3. Click ESC to and select “SETTINGS”.
4. Navigate “SERVER SETTINGS” tab. Here, select the difficulty level of your choice.
5. Click “OK”
6. Click “YES”.
Please note that changing the difficulty level will reset your admin password. Set them again in the control panel.
7. Click “OK”.
