Rabbit Stew is a high-energy food item designed to restore the player’s hunger and saturation levels. Consuming just one serving replenishes 10 hunger points and 12 saturation points, allowing the player to perform demanding tasks for an extended period without needing to eat again. Unlike most food items, Rabbit Stew cannot be stacked – each portion occupies a separate inventory slot, which makes it less practical for long expeditions.
To craft this dish, you’ll need five different ingredients: cooked rabbit, a carrot, a baked potato, a mushroom (red or brown), and a bowl. As a result, its preparation is more complex compared to other food items.
How to craft Rabbit Stew
To cook Rabbit Stew, you need to open a crafting table and place the following ingredients in any configuration:
- cooked rabbit
- carrot
- baked potato
- mushroom (red or brown)
- bowl
Once all the items are placed, the stew will instantly appear in the result slot and can be moved to your inventory.

1. Bake a potato
To bake a potato, you first need to find its raw version. They are usually found in village chests and crop fields, right next to carrots and wheat. Occasionally, they also appear in naturally generated structure chests, such as shipwrecks. Once you have a potato, you can plant it on hydrated farmland to grow more and create your own farm.

To get a baked potato, place the raw one into a furnace and add any type of fuel, such as a bucket of lava.

2. Find a mushroom
Both red and brown mushrooms generate naturally in various locations, but they require specific conditions such as low light levels. You can find them in the following places:
– Mushroom Fields – the richest source, where both small and giant mushrooms can be found
– Caves and dark rooms – mushrooms can randomly generate on dirt, stone, and similar blocks in low-light environments
– Swamp and Dark Forest biomes – both offer enough shade under tree canopies for mushrooms to spawn
– The Nether – mushrooms generate less frequently here but can be found on netherrack and soul sand, especially in Soul Sand Valley

3. Craft a bowl
A bowl is one of the simplest items to craft. To make it, you need three wooden planks of any type. On the crafting table, arrange them in the shape of the letter “V”. One set of materials yields four bowls, so you don’t have to worry about running out when preparing multiple servings of rabbit stew.

4. Cook a rabbit
To obtain cooked rabbit, you first need to hunt a rabbit in its natural habitat. Rabbits spawn in the following biomes:
- Snowy Plains
- Ice Spikes
- Snowy Slopes
- Grove
- Snowy Taiga
- Taiga
- Flower Forest
- Meadow
- Desert
- Cherry Grove
- Old Growth Pine Taiga
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga

Once you have obtained raw rabbit meat, you need to cook it in a furnace, smoker, or on a campfire. Any type of fuel can be used. After a few seconds, you will receive cooked rabbit.

5. Find a carrot
Carrots are vegetables that can be found in several locations throughout the Minecraft world. However, the most reliable way to get them is by visiting a village — they often grow in crop fields alongside potatoes and wheat. You can also find carrots in chests located in structures such as shipwrecks or pillager outposts.
Once you obtain your first carrot, you can easily start your own farm. All you need to do is prepare hydrated farmland and plant the carrot.
