Header image

The simultaneous release of the Factorio 2.0 update and the Space Age expansion brings many new features that will transform the gameplay. The free 2.0 update introduces several key improvements, while Space Age enriches the game with entirely new planets and mechanics. From now on, players will be able to conquer space on a whole new level.

Free Factorio 2.0 Update

Factorio 2.0 is a major upgrade that introduces:

  • Smarter robots – Logistics and construction robots will operate faster and more efficiently.
  • Remote view – It will be possible to monitor and manage factories from distant points on the map.
  • Fluid system – A new fluid management mechanic that makes the hydraulic infrastructure more efficient.
  • Railway improvements – New options for train management and the addition of improved track elements.
  • New Nauvis generation – Improved map generation allows for more diverse landscapes.

Paid Space Age Expansion

The Space Age expansion introduces entirely new mechanics and planets for exploration. Players will be able to manage interplanetary factories and develop advanced technologies. One of the first new mechanics is space platforms, which allow for interplanetary travel. Players can manage these platforms and defend them from asteroids. Elevated rails enable the construction of multi-level transport routes over various obstacles, creating more complex transport networks. Additionally, the item quality system brings factory building to a whole new level by introducing different quality tiers for machines and equipment.

New Places to Explore

Space platforms, introduced in the Space Age expansion, will take you to entirely new locations and allow you to build interplanetary factories in places such as:

  • Vulcanus – A volcanic planet surrounded by sulfur clouds and lava mountains. Here, you can mine tungsten and produce metals.
  • Fulgora – A harsh, frozen world with electric storms, ideal for generating electricity from storm energy.
  • Gleba – A colorful, swampy planet rich in plants, perfect for developing biochemical engineering and agriculture.
  • Aquilo – An icy planet with extreme weather, where managing factories will require efficient heat usage to keep operations running.
