Taming Wolves in Minecraft
A wolf in Minecraft can become your best companion, but first, you need to earn its trust. The steps below will help you understand exactly what to do:
- Find a wild wolf – They spawn naturally in several biomes, most commonly in Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Old Growth Pine Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Sparse Jungle, Savanna Plateau, and Forest. They are much rarer in Grove and Wooded Badlands, where the chances of encountering one are very low.
- Get some bones – The next step is to collect your future friend’s favorite treat. The easiest way to get bones is by defeating skeletons, which appear at night, in dark areas, during thunderstorms, or inside caves. After killing them, you can receive between 0 and 2 bones, though you can increase this drop rate by using a bow or sword with the Looting enchantment. Bones can also be found in chests inside dungeons, temples, ruins, or shipwrecks.
- Feed the wolf – Approach the animal with a bone in your hand and right-click on it. It doesn’t always work the first time, so keep trying until hearts appear above its head. When you also notice a collar around its neck, it means your mission was a success – the wolf is now your loyal companion.
