The Ender Dragon is the symbolic finale of the survival adventure. Defeating it is more than just a battle — it’s a true test of courage and cleverness. To even face the dragon, you must first reach The End dimension, which is a challenge in itself. In this article, we’ll focus on how to enter that dimension, how to defeat the dragon and claim its egg, and how to summon it again!

How to get to The End in Minecraft
The End is a mysterious dimension where the final challenge awaits players in the form of a battle with the Ender Dragon. To get there, you need to complete a series of steps, and the process requires not only courage but also finding specific resources. Steps that will allow you to get to The End:
- Get a dozen or so Ender Pearls. You can do this while hunting Endermen, which appear in large numbers e.g. in the Nether.
- Get Blaze Powder. Go to a Nether Fortress and defeat a Blaze, which will drop a Blaze Rod. Convert this item into Blaze Powder in your inventory.
- Create an Eye of Ender. Combine an Ender Pearl with Blaze Powder. You will need a minimum of 12 pieces, but it’s good to have more.
- Throw an Ender Eye – it will fly in the direction of the nearest stronghold. When it starts falling straight down, that’s a sign that you should dig.
- Once you reach the stronghold, find the portal. Activate it by placing 12 Ender Eyes in the frame.
- Enter the portal and prepare for the fight with the dragon!

How to kill Ender Dragon
Defeating the Ender Dragon is a huge challenge that requires players to be well-prepared and to develop an effective strategy. Before the fight, it’s a good idea to equip yourself with a full set of Diamond or Netherite armor and a bow with a sufficient amount of arrows. After entering The End, the first objective is to destroy the crystals located at the top of the obsidian pillars, which heal the dragon. They can be destroyed with arrows, but if they are protected by iron bars, you need to climb up and break them from close range.
Once you’ve destroyed all the crystals, you can start attacking the dragon. During the fight, you should avoid the dragon’s attacks such as fireballs or dragon breath, which deal significant damage. It’s also important to avoid Endermen, who can become hostile if you look at them. After you defeat the dragon, you will receive a large amount of experience and have the opportunity to collect the dragon egg.

How to get Ender Dragon egg
Obtaining the dragon egg requires, of course, defeating the Ender Dragon. After a successful battle, the egg will appear on top of the return portal to the normal world. Unfortunately, the Dragon Egg cannot be collected in the traditional way, because when you click on it, it teleports to another random nearby location. The simplest way to obtain the egg is to surround it with blocks – for example, place a torch two blocks underneath it and break the block directly below it so the egg falls and drops as an item.
How to respawn Ender Dragon
If you feel like fighting the dragon again, you can summon it once more. To do this, you need four End Crystals, which can be crafted using glass, a Ghast Tear, and an Gye of Ghast. The End Crystals should be placed on the edges of the return portal, one on each side. Once placed, the summoning process will begin — the destroyed obsidian pillars will regenerate their end crystals, and the dragon will reappear.
