How to make Fermented Spider Eye in Minecraft

Fermented Spider Eye is one of the most unusual brewing ingredients in Minecraft. It can’t be eaten or used in combat, and it has no direct effect on its own. Its true power only becomes apparent when used in a brewing stand.

Unlike the regular spider eye (which causes poison when eaten), the fermented version is used to modify existing potions, creating negative or inverted effects. It’s mainly used to corrupt potions, changing their purpose and turning them into tools for weakening enemies.

Here are the potions you can brew using a Fermented Spider Eye:

  1. Potion of Weakness – brewed from an Awkward Potion or Water Bottle; reduces melee attack damage
  2. Potion of Slowness – brewed from a Potion of Swiftness or Leaping; slows down movement
  3. Potion of Harming – brewed from a Potion of Healing or Poison; deals instant damage
  4. Potion of Invisibility – brewed from a Potion of Night Vision; makes the player invisible

How to make Fermented Spider Eye

To craft a Fermented Spider Eye, you’ll need three ingredients:

  • 1 Spider Eye
  • 1 Brown Mushroom
  • 1 Sugar

Combine them in any arrangement in the crafting table – it’s a shapeless recipe, so the order doesn’t matter. The finished item will appear in your inventory right away, ready to be used in brewing.

How to get Spider Eye

Spider Eye is a basic brewing ingredient that is primarily obtained by killing spiders. These hostile mobs appear in several common situations:

  1. On the surface at night – this is the most frequent way to encounter them. As soon as you leave a well-lit area after sunset, spiders will start spawning almost anywhere: on plains, deserts, forests, or meadows.
  2. In caves and underground – spiders naturally spawn in dark areas below the surface, just like other hostile mobs. Simply head into a cave system and you’re likely to run into a few.
  3. In abandoned mineshafts – especially dangerous are the cave spiders, which spawn near cobweb-covered spawners. These smaller, poisonous spiders also drop spider eyes.
  4. In strongholds and dungeons – less commonly, you may find standard spider spawners in these structures as well.

The chance of a spider dropping a spider eye upon death isn’t guaranteed, but it’s relatively high. The best time to hunt for them is at night. Additionally, don’t overlook witches — they can also drop spider eyes along with other useful potion ingredients. You’ll often find witches in swamp biomes, and if you defeat one, you’ll likely walk away with a nice bundle of alchemy materials.

How to get Brown Mushroom

Brown Mushrooms can be found in several places. They most commonly grow in dark biomes such as Dark Forest and Swamp, as well as in caves and underground areas where light levels are low. They also appear in the Nether and on Mushroom Island. You can collect them by hand or with any tool – just click and they’re yours.

How to get Sugar

Sugar in Minecraft is obtained by crafting sugar cane. This plant grows naturally near water – most commonly on sand or dirt along rivers, lakes, or oceans. Simply collect the sugar cane and place it in the crafting table to get sugar.
