How to make Netherite Armor in Minecraft

Netherite armor is the most powerful type of armor in Minecraft. It was created for players who seek maximum protection and durability in the dangerous corners of the world. It is crafted from Netherite, a unique material mined in the hellish dimension known as the Nether. This armor surpasses all previous types, including diamond armor.

Its primary function is to provide the highest level of protection against physical damage and fire. Each piece – helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots – offers greater durability than their diamond counterparts. Moreover, Netherite armor does not burn in lava or fire, which is especially important when exploring the Nether.

How to create Diamond Armor in Minecraft

Before you can even start crafting a Netherite Armor set, you must first obtain the diamond version – this is a required step that cannot be skipped. The first task is to gather diamonds, which are found in the deep layers of the world, typically between Y=-64 and Y=16, with the best chances around Y=-59. To mine them, you’ll need at least an iron pickaxe, plenty of torches, and enough food for extended underground trips.

To increase your efficiency, consider using a pickaxe enchanted with “Fortune,” which boosts the chances of getting more than one diamond from a single block. In total, you’ll need 24 diamonds to craft a full set.

Next, place the appropriate number of diamonds in a crafting table to create the four armor pieces:

Helmet – 5 pieces

Chestplate – 8 pieces

Leggings – 7 pieces

Boots – 4 pieces

How to get Netherite Ingot in Minecraft

The next step is to obtain a material called Ancient Debris. This is an extremely rare block that can only be found in the Nether, usually between levels Y=8 and Y=22 – with the highest concentration around Y=15. Mining this resource takes time, but it’s a very rewarding process. To mine Ancient Debris, you need a diamond or netherite pickaxe, as weaker tools won’t be able to harvest it. The block is explosion-resistant, so it won’t be destroyed by TNT blasts.

While exploring the Nether, it’s recommended to dig long tunnels at Y=15 and create controlled explosions using TNT, which allows you to uncover several debris blocks in a single session. Once you’ve collected this material, you need to smelt it in a blast furnace. Each block of Ancient Debris smelts into one Netherite Scrap – a necessary ingredient for crafting a Netherite Ingot.

To craft one Netherite Ingot, you need four Netherite Scraps and four gold ingots. Place them in a crafting table in any configuration. To create a full Netherite armor set, you will need at least four Netherite Ingots.

Upgrading Diamond Armor to Netherite

The final step is upgrading your armor in the Smithing Table. For this step, you’ll need a Netherite Upgrade Template, which can only be found in Bastion Remnants in the Nether. These are massive, dangerous structures inhabited by Piglins. The templates have a rare chance of appearing in loot chests, but once you find one, you can duplicate it.

The upgrading process is simple:

  1. Place a Smithing Table on the ground.
  2. Open its interface and insert from left to right:
    • the diamond armor piece you want to upgrade,
    • a Netherite Upgrade Template,
    • and one Netherite Ingot.
  3. After a moment, you’ll receive the upgraded version of that armor piece.
