Minecraft Copper Age Update: New Blocks, Mobs and Mechanics

The Copper Age Update brings Minecraft into a whole new era of creativity and discovery. Copper, which until now was treated mainly as a decorative addition, has become one of the most important resources in the game. With this update, it gains real significance, allowing players to craft new armor, weapons, tools, and a range of decorative blocks that change appearance over time and under different weather conditions. The biggest star of the update is without a doubt the Copper Golem – an adorable, passive helper that can automatically sort items between chests and adds a touch of automation to the game.

Copper Golem – Your New Storage Assistant

Among all the features introduced in the Copper Age, none attracts as much attention as the Copper Golem. This adorable passive mob can turn an ordinary warehouse into a lively factory. This autonomous helper really makes it easier to manage your chests. Its main task is to sort and move items between chests within a certain range. It looks for chests within a 10-block radius, and if it’s not holding anything, it picks up to 16 pieces of the first available item. While working, it makes soft metallic sounds, and when standing still, it often tilts its head slightly, making a characteristic cute sound. Unfortunately, over time it oxidizes, going through four phases – from a bright, orange and shiny mob to a completely rusted Copper Golem Statue. In short, when rust takes over, it stops moving and becomes a decorative statue.

To create it, you need one copper block and one carved pumpkin. To bring it to life, simply place the pumpkin on top of the copper block – and that’s it.

New Armor, Tools and Weapons

Apart from the adorable new mob, the update also introduced a new set of equipment, including tools, weapons, and armor made from a distinctive orange material. The new tools – pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe – have higher durability than stone and serve as a tier between stone and iron. Their biggest advantage is high enchantability, which allows players to obtain solid upgrades early in the game. The new sword deals the same amount of damage as the stone one but has better durability and speed. The set also includes full protective armor that offers more defense than leather but less than iron.

New Decorative Blocks – Building with Style and Shine

The update introduced not only the golem and new equipment but also a range of decorative blocks that allow players to create completely new and unique constructions.
Among them are:

  • Stairs – useful for creating entrances, architectural details, and roof edges.
  • Bars – thin blocks resembling metal rods, perfect for fences or windows.
  • Chains – ideal for decorative purposes or industrial-style builds.
  • Lanterns and torches – light sources with a soft, warm orange glow.
  • Copper Golem Statue – a special block that appears when the golem becomes fully oxidized. It serves as a decorative element but can be brought back to life by using an axe.

All of these blocks, made from copper, go through a natural process that occurs over time or under the influence of rain. At first, they have a bright orange color that gradually darkens and becomes slightly matte. Later, a distinct green patina appears, eventually turning into a turquoise-green shade.
