The Dappled Forest Minecraft Guide – Everything Added in 26.3 Snapshot 1

Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 1 introduces the new Dappled Forest biome, bringing a true autumn atmosphere to the game for the first time. The update adds colorful Poplar Trees, a brand new wood type, unique vegetation and several new building blocks that give players even more creative possibilities.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at everything added in the latest snapshot, including Poplar Wood, Shelf Mushrooms, Abandoned Camps, Wool Slabs, Wool Stairs and more.

What Is the Dappled Forest Biome

The Dappled Forest is a new biome inspired by autumn landscapes, featuring vibrant red, orange and yellow tree canopies. Compared to other forest biomes, it offers a much cozier atmosphere with fallen leaves, fallen trees and dense vegetation.

The biome is home to sheep, cold chickens, cold pigs, cold cows, foxes and rabbits. While exploring, players can discover Abandoned Camps, which now also generate in other biomes, Shelf Mushrooms growing on fallen logs and the brand new Poplar Trees. Thanks to its unique decorative features and peaceful autumn atmosphere, the Dappled Forest is one of the most atmospheric biomes ever added to Minecraft.

Poplar Trees, Autumn Leaves and Poplar Wood

One of the biggest additions in the Dappled Forest is the new Poplar Tree. These trees come with their own unique wood set called Poplar Wood, featuring a light gray texture that works especially well for cozy, rustic and medieval style builds.

The biome also introduces autumn leaves in three different colors: red, orange and yellow. Each Poplar Tree generates with one of these variants, giving the forest a colorful and natural autumn appearance unlike any other biome in Minecraft.

Shelf Mushrooms and Fallen Trees

Fallen Trees are a new world generation feature that makes the Dappled Forest feel much more natural and immersive. Instead of perfectly upright forests, you’ll now come across fallen logs scattered throughout the biome, adding more variety to the landscape.

Growing on many of these fallen logs are the new Shelf Mushrooms. They come in two different sizes and can even be bounced on, giving them both a decorative and functional purpose.

Abandoned Camps

Abandoned Camps are a new structure introduced with this update. While they can now generate in several different biomes, they’re a perfect fit for the Dappled Forest and add more variety to exploration.

Inside, you’ll find basic early game loot such as food, arrows, leather, bones, coal and simple tools. Although the rewards aren’t particularly valuable, the camps make the world feel more alive and can be a useful stop during the first days of a new survival world.

Wool Slabs and Wool Stairs

Builders also have something to look forward to with the addition of Wool Slabs and Wool Stairs. These new block variants make it easier to create more detailed interiors, rooftops and decorative builds while keeping the soft texture and colorful look of wool.

Red Shrubs and Poplar Saplings

To complete the autumn atmosphere, the update introduces Red Shrubs, a new decorative plant that naturally generates throughout the Dappled Forest. Their deep red color adds even more variety to the biome and helps create a unique seasonal landscape.

Players can also collect Poplar Saplings, allowing them to grow their own Poplar Trees in red, orange or yellow variants.

This makes it easy to recreate the look of the Dappled Forest in custom builds or bring a touch of autumn to any Minecraft world.
