If you’ve reached the point where the map keeps getting bigger and running everywhere on foot is starting to feel frustrating, it’s a clear sign that it’s time to get some form of transportation. A great choice is the motorcycle, which can be a real game-changer. In this guide, we’ll explain every step of crafting a motorcycle in 7 Days to Die and give you practical tips on how to gather all the necessary components.

How to Get a Motorcycle in 7 Days to Die
If you want to craft a motorcycle, you need to combine the following components in the Workbench:
- Motorcycle Chassis
- Motorcycle Handlebars
- Engine
- 2 Wheels
- Lead Car Battery
Crafting takes a short in-game time, so make sure your Workbench is placed.

Required Motorcycle Parts
Wheels
To craft a wheel, you need to open the Workbench and combine the following ingredients:
- 3 Forged Iron
- 24 Scrap Polymers
- 2 Oil
- 15 Coal
- 1 Bottle of Acid
The wheel recipe unlocks after you have read at least 5/100 Vehicle Adventures magazines, and without that it will remain unavailable.

Motorcycle Chassis
To craft the motorcycle chassis, open the Workbench and combine the following materials:
- 37 Forged Steel
- 15 Mechanical Parts
- 15 Duct Tape
- 15 Leather
- 4 Electrical Parts
The motorcycle chassis recipe unlocks after you have read at least 45/100 Vehicle Adventures magazines.

Motorcycle Handlebars
To craft the motorcycle handlebars, open the Workbench and combine the following materials:
- 15 Mechanical Parts
- 15 Duct Tape
- 1 Headlight
- 9 Electrical Parts
- 7 Forged Steel
The motorcycle handlebars recipe unlocks after you have read at least 45/100 Vehicle Adventures magazines.

Engine
The engine is a key component of the motorcycle. Unfortunately, it cannot be crafted and must be found in the game world. To obtain it, you can:
- dismantle cars using a Wrench, especially sedans
- search tool crates, particularly in locations such as Working Stiffs Hardware and other mechanical POIs
Lead Car Battery
To craft a lead car battery, open the Chemistry Station and combine the following materials:
- 540 Lead
- 3 Bottle of Acid
- 30 Scrap Polymers
The lead car battery recipe unlocks after you have read at least 55 Wiring 101 magazines.

Below you’ll find practical tips that will help you understand how to find all the components needed for crafting:
- Forged Iron – You can create it by smelting Iron and Clay in a Forge. It can also sometimes be found in toolboxes and workshop loot.
- Scrap Polymers – These drop from almost anything made of plastic, but the fastest way to gather them is by destroying trash piles and plastic objects.
- Oil – Most commonly found in garages, workshops, and gas stations. Check mechanical containers and car-related loot.
- Coal – Can be mined directly from coal nodes found in the terrain. Surface deposits are often visible and easy to farm.
- Bottle of Acid – This is a rare but repeatable loot item, most often found under sinks in kitchens and bathrooms, but it can also drop from chemical containers.
- Forged Steel – Crafted in a Forge equipped with a crucible by smelting the required metal resources. It also appears in higher-tier industrial loot.
- Mechanical Parts – The best source is dismantling cars and machinery using a wrench. Tool crates also frequently contain them.
- Duct Tape – Can be found in houses, garages, and supply crates, and can also be crafted from cloth and glue.
- Leather – Obtained by scrapping leather furniture or by harvesting animals while hunting.
- Electrical Parts – Drop from electronic devices such as lamps, computers, and office equipment. Salvaging them increases your yield.
- Headlight – Easiest to obtain by dismantling cars and street lights. Sometimes appears in technical loot containers.
- Lead – Can be mined from ore nodes underground or smelted from lead-based scrap.
How to Refuel a Motorcycle in 7 Days to Die
Once you craft your first motorcycle, it will appear in your inventory as a ready-to-place vehicle. You can drag it onto your hotbar and place it similarly to a workstation. Unfortunately, it will not be fueled, so you will need to refill it before riding.

To do this, aim at the motorcycle with your mouse cursor and hold the E key to open the vehicle radial menu. There you’ll find options to repair the bike, refuel it, lock it with a code, and more. Choose the Gas option and refuel it – after that, the motorcycle will be ready to ride.
