Vine is a rare crafting material that can only be obtained by defeating specific enemies in the Underground Jungle. You can’t get it by cutting vines or breaking blocks. The enemy you’ll be facing is the Man Eater – an aggressive plant-like trap that has a 50% chance to drop a Vine upon defeat. In practice, this means an exciting expedition deep into the jungle awaits you.
First, Find the Underground Jungle
Before you even think about collecting this rare material, you need to reach the Underground Jungle. It’s one of the most unique – but also most dangerous – biomes in the entire game. Finding it isn’t too hard, but it does take a few careful steps.

1. Find the Jungle
The Jungle biome is always located on one side of the world, usually opposite the Dungeon. As you approach it, you’ll notice a few clear signs:
- the grass turns brighter green,
- the trees become taller and denser,
- vines hang down from blocks,
- and the background shifts to a lush tropical forest.
When you see all these signs, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
2. Start Digging Down
Once you’ve found the Jungle on the surface, it’s time to start digging down. Avoid digging a straight vertical shaft – it’s easy to fall and die. Instead, dig in a zigzag pattern, placing torches or glowsticks every few blocks to light your way.
After a while, you’ll notice that the background gets darker, thick roots appear, and you start encountering typical Jungle mobs like Hornets and Jungle Bats. That’s your sign that you’ve entered the Underground Jungle – where the real adventure begins.
Defeat the Man Eater
Once you’ve made your way deep enough into the Underground Jungle, it’s time to search for the true source of Vines – the enemy known as the Man Eater.
These are distinctive, plant-like monsters that look like green vines with a mouth full of sharp teeth. They grow out of the walls and ceilings of jungle caves, and as soon as you get too close, they stretch toward you and try to bite. You can often hear their unique sound before you even see them.

Although Man Eaters can’t move, they can reach you from a surprisingly long distance. Their vine acts like a whip and can hit you even through thin walls, so it’s worth following a few safety rules:
- Keep your distance – use a bow or any ranged weapon to stay safe.
- Don’t get too close – their attack is fast and can knock you back, which often means falling to your death in the caves.
- Use the terrain – try to fight from a higher platform; Man Eaters can’t climb or move vertically.
- Watch out for other enemies – while fighting a Man Eater, you’ll often get swarmed by Hornets or other jungle creatures.
