A major 2.0 update is coming soon to 7 Days to Die. “Storms Brewing” is set to launch on April 15, 2025, as an experimental release on Steam, with the stable version expected in early May. This long-awaited expansion introduces a comprehensive package of new features that will raise the level of immersion, realism, and challenge – from an entirely new biome progression system to changes on the iconic Navezgane map!
Biome Progression and Elemental Survival
Update 2.0 will allow players to further refine their survival skills. One of the most visible changes is the introduction of biome progression – each biome will now have its own difficulty level, and the best loot can only be obtained by venturing into the most dangerous zones. Players will face new environmental hazards such as extreme heat, cold, radiation, and smoke. Surviving these conditions will require building resistances to specific elements through special challenges and items. Additionally, new Biome Zombies will be added, including the Desert Plague Spitter.
New, More Agile Zombies
To further increase the difficulty, new zombie types will be introduced. Charged Blue and Infernal Orange are advanced units with special powers, enhanced stats, and more aggressive behaviors. A new functionality will also allow zombies to pass through one-meter-high spaces and squeeze under tighter areas.

Perk System and Character Progression
The perk system will undergo a significant transformation. Perks will be reorganized and expanded with a new general category. Each attribute will feature 10 perks with 5 progression tiers. Players will also benefit from a new book series called “Sledgehammer Saga”, offering new abilities and bonuses tied to sledgehammer combat.
Visual Enhancements to the Game World
The game world will become more realistic thanks to a new rendering engine. Trees will feature more lifelike models and more natural placement. The Navezgane map will be reworked with the new biome system in mind. Cities and trader locations will be repositioned to improve exploration flow and balance.

New Locations
Players can look forward to over 50 new Points of Interest (POIs). Many existing locations will be updated, and new wilderness POIs will be introduced to enrich the world’s variety and gameplay.
Character Customization
Cosmetic changes are also coming – players will be able to choose their outfit independently of the armor they wear, allowing full visual personalization without compromising function. New DLC cosmetics and Twitch Drops will also be available.
