7 Days to Die Biomes – Difficulty, Resources and More

In this article, you will learn the most important information about all available biomes in 7 Days to Die, including survival mechanics, key resources, and enemies.

List of All 7 Days to Die Biomes

Below is a list of all biomes currently available in the game, followed by a detailed description of each one.

Forest

The Forest biome is the most balanced and beginner-friendly environment in the entire game, and it is here that most players begin their adventure. This area is characterized by moderate temperatures, and rainfall occurs regularly, which helps with managing the player’s body temperature.

The Forest biome offers the widest access to early-game resources. Tall grass provides a large amount of Plant Fibers, as well as Small Stones, which can be difficult to spot. Additionally, you will encounter Boulders and regular trees that supply wood.

Cotton Plants are also commonly found here and are essential for crafting Cloth Fragments, while basic ores can be mined at standard depths. Animals spawn fairly often, providing easy access to a reliable food source.

Snowy Forest

Snowy Forest is one of the most demanding locations in terms of environmental conditions, as low temperatures pose a constant threat to unprepared players. From the first minutes of exploration, managing the character’s body heat is essential, since cold increases food consumption and can lead to dangerous status effects.

Lack of proper clothing can result in the Shivering debuff, which over time may progress into Freezing, gradually reducing health. Despite the harsh weather conditions, this snow-covered biome offers valuable resources, such as:

  • Snowberry plants, whose berries are necessary for crafting food
  • Blueberry bushes, providing safe-to-eat blueberries
  • Layers of snow, which can be melted into water, with clay available underneath

Snowy Forest is also distinguished by the presence of Frozen Lumberjacks, extremely durable zombies with a large amount of health, as well as wolves, which can appear in packs and pose a serious threat to players.

Burnt Forest

The Burnt Forest is characterized by a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, mainly due to the burned landscape, charred trees, and lack of vegetation. Although at first glance it may seem like an unpleasant place, the temperature remains at a normal level and rainfall occurs regularly.

The main threat in this biome comes from smoldering piles of wood and embers, which can cause rapid health loss if the player walks over them. This area offers a limited pool of resources, but Small Stones, wood, and Coal can be found here relatively often.

The most common enemies encountered are Burnt Victims, slow-moving zombies that can set the player on fire during attacks. In addition, Vultures may attack, and stronger zombies or bears can occasionally appear. Burnt Forest serves as a transition area between the safer Forest biome and more dangerous regions such as the Desert or the Wasteland.

Desert

The Desert biome in 7 Days to Die was designed to put the player to the test through extreme weather conditions, limited water availability, and specific threats from wildlife and enemies. The biggest challenge in this biome is, of course, the high daytime temperatures, which significantly accelerate water consumption.

After a short time, you may receive the Overheating effect, which over a longer period can turn into Sunstroke, gradually draining your health. For this reason, it is worth entering the Desert biome with a supply of drinks and basic knowledge of local plants.

Despite the harsh conditions, you can find several unique and valuable resources here, such as:

  • Yucca plants, which can be used to craft Yucca Juice, the best source of hydration in the early stages of the game
  • Aloe Vera plants, useful for crafting medical items
  • Bedrock layers, allowing the extraction of Iron Ore, Sand, and Oil Shale (crucial for later fuel production)

The Desert biome is also distinguished by the presence of Vultures and snakes, which pose a threat to unaware players.

Wasteland

Wastelands is the most dangerous and ruthless biome, and its area has been completely devastated by the apocalypse, filled with rubble, ruined cities, and industrial structures. The real threat here, unlike in other biomes, does not come from the weather but from the environment itself and the constant pressure from enemies. The terrain is open and lacks natural cover, which significantly hinders stealth and safe exploration.

Randomly placed land mines can be found throughout the area, and their detonation can kill an unaware player instantly. Despite the extreme difficulty, this biome offers the richest resources in the game, such as Scrap Metal Piles, Cinder Blocks, and Brick Piles, making it an ideal location for obtaining Scrap Iron and other building materials. In the ruins and abandoned buildings, players can find numerous containers containing valuable loot.
